A layered collage of hand-painted velvet, veiled with painted, distressed, and softly frayed organza. This piece evokes the quiet power of maternal love—the act of holding and carrying life—while reflecting the invisible threads that bind us to one another and to the wider world, gently illuminated by the pull of the moon.
Collected painted silk and velvet pieces form abstract compositions through quietly intricate positioning and layering, preserving traces of their past without being overly precious. Sometimes this involves pressing abstract shapes into velvet, creating reflections and a sense of movement.
Inspired by recent moon phases, a partial solar eclipse, and the works of abstract expressionists Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Rothko along with Paul Klee’s use of colour.
· Size 40cm x 40cm (16” x 16”)
· Made from hand-painted velvet and painted distressed & frayed silk organza
Sold unframed.
